The Makita 18V LXT® Lithium-Ion Cordless ¼” Compact Die Grinder (model XDG02Z, tool only) offers speed and portability in a compact design. It's perfect for various metalworking surface-prep tasks like grinding, smoothing, and cutting. The Makita-built motor spins at 25,000 RPM, enabling faster grinding. With a barrel grip and weighing just 3.8 lbs (with battery), its short-neck design (only 12-1/8”L with battery) is great for tight spaces. The slide switch has a lock-on for easy use, and vent slots direct exhaust air away from you. The solid aluminum housing adds durability. The built-in L.E.D. light warns of motor overload due to over-torque and flashes red when it's time to recharge the battery. This grinder is part of Makita's expanding 18V Lithium-Ion system, the world's largest cordless tool system powered by 18V Lithium-Ion slide-style batteries. Makita's 18V Lithium-Ion batteries charge fast, so they're working more and charging less. Star Protection Computer Controls™ improve tool performance and extend battery life by protecting against overloading, over-discharging, and overheating. The tool can also run on Makita 18V LXT® and Compact Lithium-Ion batteries with the star symbol. Included are a 1/4' Collet (763673-7), Collet Nut (763668-0), and Spanner Wrench (781039-9). Key features include a 4-pole motor for fast grinding, a short neck for better maneuverability, a comfortable barrel grip, vent slots for user comfort, a lock-on switch, an alert light for warnings, anti-restart protection, a round collet nut, accessible brushes, a durable housing, low weight to reduce fatigue, Star Protection, a charger with a cooling fan for efficient charging, and a 3-year limited warranty. Battery and charger are sold separately.

Using the Makita XDG02Z is easy. First, make sure you have a compatible 18V Lithium-Ion battery (sold separately). Insert the battery into the tool. To start the grinder, simply press the slide switch. You can use the lock-on feature for continuous operation. When using it, hold the barrel grip firmly. It's great for working in tight spaces thanks to its short-neck design. Remember, the vent slots are there to direct exhaust air away from you, so keep that in mind. The built-in L.E.D. light will give you warnings. If it warns of motor overload, stop using the tool immediately to prevent damage. When the light flashes red, it's time to recharge the battery. For maintenance, check the brushes regularly as they're externally accessible. Keep the tool clean and store it in a dry place. Make sure to use the included collet, collet nut, and spanner wrench properly. And always follow safety guidelines while using the tool. With proper use and maintenance, your Makita XDG02Z will serve you well for a long time.
