When you want to check for voltage, simply hold the tester near the overhead conductor or cable you're inspecting. The LOW range is suitable for lower voltages between 50V AC and 1.5kV AC, while the HIGH range is for higher voltages from 1.5kV AC to 132kV AC. If there's voltage present, you'll hear an audible beep and see a visual signal on the tester. Always use the tester in a dry environment as much as possible, even though it's water-resistant.
