Using your Makita 5/8" (16 mm) Round Die is straightforward. First, make sure you have the Makita 18V LXT® Cordless Metal Hole Punch (XPP01, sold separately). Install the round die quickly and easily onto the punch. Then, place the metal plate you want to punch a hole in. Ensure the metal plate's thickness is within the range of 5/64" (2 mm) to 5/32" (4 mm) for general steel and 1/8" (3 mm) to 5/32" (4 mm) for stainless steel. Now, you're ready to start punching holes. Remember to always wear safety goggles when using this tool. As for maintenance, after each use, wipe the round die clean with a dry cloth to remove any metal shavings. If it gets dirty, you can use a mild cleaner, but make sure to dry it thoroughly before storing. Store it in a dry place to prevent rusting.
