Landscapers and contractors are increasingly seeking cordless alternatives to gas-powered outdoor tools. Makita answers this need with its growing range of cordless outdoor power equipment, including the 18V LXT® Brushless Chain Saw (model XCU11Z, tool only; batteries and charger sold separately). The XCU11Z offers zero emissions, less noise, and much lower maintenance, making it an ideal choice for cutting and trimming. It runs on one 18V LXT® battery, the same fast-charging battery used in the wide range of LXT® System products. The efficient Makita brushless motor provides high power efficiency similar to a gas chain saw, capable of up to 73 cuts in 4x4 cedar with an 18V LXT® 4.0Ah battery. The XCU11 has a 14-inch guide bar, and its variable-speed Makita-built motor delivers 0 - 1,520 FPM for faster cutting. It's emission-free and low-maintenance, with no need to change engine oil, replace spark plugs, clean air filters or mufflers, and no fuel draining for storage. Just pick it up, insert an 18V LXT® battery, and it's ready to go. Convenient features include 'tool-less' chain adjustments, a front hand guard that activates the chain brake, an electric brake for high productivity, a large oil filling port with a viewing window for easy oil level checking, a rubberized soft grip top handle for even cutting pressure, and a compact rear-handle design for easy handling. It's part of Makita's expanding 18V Lithium-Ion system, the world's largest cordless tool system powered by 18V Lithium-Ion slide-style batteries. Makita 18V Lithium-Ion batteries have fast charge times, so they spend more time working. Makita's Star Protection Computer Controls™ improve tool performance and extend battery life by monitoring conditions to prevent overloading, over-discharging, and overheating. The tool can also be powered by Makita 18V LXT® and Compact Lithium-Ion batteries with Star Protection. Included are a 14-inch saw chain, a 14-inch guide bar, and a chain saw bar cover. Features like no gas, low noise, high torque, and Extreme Protection Technology (XPT™) for dust and water resistance make it a great choice. It comes with a 3-year limited warranty and requires genuine Makita batteries and chargers.

Using the Makita XCU11Z chain saw is easy. First, make sure you have a fully charged 18V LXT® battery. Insert the battery into the saw, and it's ready to use. When using, hold the saw firmly with both hands, using the rear handle and the rubberized soft grip top handle. Start cutting at a slow speed and gradually increase as needed. For chain adjustment, use the 'tool-less' feature to make quick and easy adjustments. To check the bar oil level, look through the viewing window on the large oil filling port and add oil if necessary. When you're done using the saw, remove the battery and store it in a cool, dry place. Always keep the saw clean. Wipe it down after each use to remove dirt and debris. Check the chain regularly for wear and replace it if needed. Make sure to use only genuine Makita batteries and chargers to ensure the best performance and safety. Also, remember that the saw has a 3-year limited warranty, so take good care of it. Avoid using the saw in extremely wet or dusty conditions, but thanks to the Extreme Protection Technology (XPT™), it can handle some tough job - site environments. Don't overload the saw; if it starts to slow down, reduce the pressure or change the battery if it's running low.
