Product Description
Makita, a leader in brushless motor technology and battery innovation, presents the 18V X2 LXT (36V) Lithium-Ion Brushless 7-Inch Paddle Switch/Angle Grinder with Electric Brake. Powered by two 18V Lithium-Ion batteries (batteries and charger sold separately), it offers 36V power and performance. The electronically-controlled BL Brushless Motor adjusts torque and RPM according to the task. With the Makita 18V X2 system, you're free from cords, even for tough grinding and cut-off jobs that usually need corded grinders. Users can stay within the 18V LXT battery platform, using the same fast-charging 18V batteries across Makita's cordless tool range. The XAG12PT comes with efficiency features for top performance. The electric brake stops the wheel in 4.5 seconds or less, boosting productivity. Electronic torque control shuts off the motor if the rotation slows suddenly or the wheel stops. Automatic speed change technology adjusts speed and torque during operation. For comfort, the vibration-absorbing back handle is separated from the motor housing, reducing vibration. The soft start feature smooths start-ups and extends gear life. It has a rear handle trigger switch without lock-on, and anti-restart protection prevents the motor from starting when the battery is inserted with the switch locked. Included are a 7-inch tool-less wheel guard, a 7-inch cut-off wheel guard, a side handle, a 7-inch x 1/4-inch x 7/8-inch inox grinding wheel (36 grit), and a 7-inch x 1/16-inch x 7/8-inch inox thin cut-off wheel (60 grit).
Using the Makita XAG12Z1 grinder is easy. First, insert the two 18V LXT Lithium-Ion batteries (batteries not included). Make sure the switch is in the off position before inserting the batteries. Then, you can adjust the wheel guard as needed with the tool-less feature. Hold the grinder firmly with the rubberized soft grip handle and the side handle. When you're ready to start, press the rear handle trigger switch. The soft start feature will make the start-up smooth. During operation, the grinder will adjust the speed and torque automatically to suit the task. If the wheel slows down suddenly or stops, the electronic torque control will turn off the motor to protect it. When you're done, release the switch. The electric brake will stop the wheel in 4.5 seconds or less. For safety, always wear appropriate protective gear like goggles and gloves. Don't use the grinder if the batteries are low - the L.E.D. battery charge indicator will let you know. Also, make sure the switch is in the off position before inserting or removing the batteries. To maintain your grinder, keep it clean. Use a brush to remove debris from the wire mesh intake covers regularly. When changing the wheel, use the large spindle lock button, which is easy to use even when wearing gloves. Store the grinder in a dry place, and if possible, use the protective roll cage to prevent damage to the batteries during everyday handling.
