Navigating through construction projects, precision and efficiency are key. The Makita 12V max CXT® Self-Leveling 360° 3-Plane Red Laser (SK700D, tool only) is a game-changer for job site layout. With three 360° laser planes, it offers 6 cross-point reference positions for level, alignment, plumbing, and squaring tasks. This cordless tool provides flexibility and freedom of movement.
The self-leveling feature corrects up to a 4-degree slope, enabling operation on uneven ground. The sharp red laser line has a visibility range of up to 82 feet and can be detected up to 230 feet with a Makita Laser Detector (sold separately). With a 12V max CXT 4.0Ah Battery (sold separately), it can run continuously for up to 22 hours.
It boasts an accuracy of +/-1/16” at 33 feet, setting a high standard in its class. The self-leveling line stabilizes in just 3 seconds, boosting productivity. The 360° rotating base allows for fine vertical line adjustment and a precise plumb point position. The laser has an IP54 rating for dust and water resistance, and its recessed laser windows enhance durability.
The 12V max CXT® Power Tools are compact yet powerful. Their ergonomic design ensures precise handling and a better balance. The CXT® System offers a compact solution with great comfort and capacity.
What's included? A Magnetic Red Target Plate (LE00785638). This tool comes with a range of features such as a simplified two-button interface for easy operation, low laser brightness modes to save battery power, and a multi-function magnetic bracket for versatile mounting.

Using the Makita SK700D is straightforward. First, insert the 12V max CXT 4.0Ah Battery (sold separately) into the tool. Turn it on using the two-button interface. The self-leveling feature will start working, and within 3 seconds, the laser lines will stabilize. You can use the 360° rotating base to adjust the vertical lines and set the plumb point position.
For better visibility, you can use the Makita Laser Detector (sold separately) which can detect the laser up to 230 feet away. The multi-function magnetic bracket allows you to attach the laser to metal, wood surfaces, or tripods.
When using on uneven surfaces, the tool can correct up to a 4-degree slope. But if the slope is greater, use the integrated pendulum lock for slope incline applications.
Here are some important notes. Don't expose the tool to excessive dust or water, although it has an IP54 rating. Always use the battery with the Battery Protection Circuit to avoid overloading, over-discharging, and over-heating. Also, make sure to store the tool in a dry and cool place.
For maintenance, keep the laser windows clean. You can use a soft cloth to wipe them gently. If the tool is not going to be used for a long time, remove the battery. And consider using the Makita interlocking stackable cases (sold separately) for efficient organization and protection during transport and storage.
