The maximum cutting depth is 8 gauge (4 mm).

Using this hole cutter is easy. First, make sure your drill has a chuck size of at least 3/8' to fit the cutter properly. When you're ready to cut, place the cutter on the metal surface where you want the hole. The split - point tip of the pilot drill will help keep the cutter in place without the need for a center punch. Start the drill and apply steady pressure. The multiple tungsten carbide tips will cut through the metal smoothly and quickly. Remember, the flange stop is there to prevent over - drilling, so don't force it past that point. For maintenance, after each use, clean the cutter with a dry cloth to remove any metal shavings. Keep it in a dry place to prevent rusting. If the pilot drill gets dull, you can easily replace it to keep the cutter performing well.
