Using your Makita XHU09Z hedge trimmer is easy. First, make sure you have a fully charged 18V LXT® Lithium-Ion battery (sold separately). Slide the battery into the trimmer until it clicks into place. Put on the blade cover that comes with the trimmer before handling it. When you're ready to trim, hold the trimmer firmly with the rubberized soft grip for comfort. Start the trimmer and adjust to the high-speed setting for faster cutting. Keep the blade at a proper angle to the branches you're trimming. Don't try to cut branches thicker than 3/4 inches as it may damage the trimmer. When you're done, turn off the trimmer and remove the battery. Store the trimmer in a dry place. For maintenance, clean the blade regularly to keep it sharp. Use only genuine Makita batteries and chargers to ensure the best performance and protect the trimmer from overloading, over-discharging, and overheating.
