Using the Makita XRJ05Z Recipro Saw is easy. First, insert a compatible 18V LXT® Lithium - Ion battery with the star symbol (sold separately). Make sure to use only genuine Makita batteries and chargers. When starting to cut, hold the saw firmly with the rubberized soft - grip handle. You can adjust the cutting speed using the variable - speed trigger according to your task. For faster blade changes, use the ‘tool - less’ blade change system. When cutting, the L.E.D. light will help you see the cutting line clearly. Remember, this saw is designed for both wood and pipe cutting, but make sure not to exceed its maximum cutting capacity (10” for wood with a 12” blade and 5 - 1/8” for pipe). After use, turn off the saw and remove the battery. Store the saw in a dry place. To keep it in good condition, clean the saw regularly, especially after use in dusty or wet conditions. Thanks to the Extreme Protection Technology (XPT™), it can handle tough environments, but still take care. The saw has Star Protection Computer Controls™, which protect it from overloading, over - discharging, and overheating.
